UKIP Policies

UKIP 2010 Manifesto

Immigration: We will freeze immigration for five years, speed up deportation of up to a million illegal immigrants by tripling the numbers engaged in deportations, and have ‘no home no visa’ work permits to ease the housing crisis.

Pensions: To end discriminatory and over complex means testing on pensions, UKIP would roll all existing State pensions, Pensions Credit, the Winter Fuel Allowance into a flat-rate non-means tested, non-contributory and non-taxable “Citizen’s Pension” of £130 per week for all pensioners aged 65 and over.

Criminal Justice: We will give people the vote on policing priorities, go back to proper beat policing and scrap the Human Rights Act. We will have sentences that mean what they say.

Education: We will have a grammar school in every town. We will restore standards of education and improve skills training. Student grants will replace student loans.

The Constitution: We will be fair to England, with an English Parliament of English MPs at Westminster. We will replace assembly members like MSPs with MPs. And we will promote referenda at local and national levels.

Defence: Renew the Covenant between the Country and those who are asked to risk their lives on its behalf: through better pay, generous compensation for injury, restoration of Crown immunity, private medical and dental care, reinstatement of military hospitals, decent accommodation, an offence of treason for those UK citizens who seriously attack serving personnel, and above all, respect and support.

Food, Farming and the Countryside: Any legislation for environmental reasons must be proportionate to the threat and be effective. UKIP would review all existing legislation, and repeal legislation that did not meet these tests. All EU imposed rules, EU Directives, regulations, quotas, targets and requirements will be comprehensively reviewed, and repealed or reformed, as necessary under British law.

Transport: UKIP opposes 'green taxes' and believes in choice and market solutions, but accepts that the true costs of transport, including wider external costs, should be born by users, where feasible.

Welfare: The current welfare state leads to a decline in the work ethic and self reliance. It is also implicated in other social pathologies such as family breakdown, criminality and educational underachievement, and requires dramatic simplification.

Fisheries: In co-operation with scientists and working fishermen, introducing technical measures and net design to be more selective, allowing immature fish and non-targeted species to escape.

Energy: We will say No to green taxes and wind farms. To avert a major energy crisis, we will go for new nuclear power plants on the same existing site facilities and for clean coal. We will reduce pollution and encourage recycling.

About John

Born and raised in Gateshead, I have deep reservations about the political class in Britain today. There is a need for radical change and only UKIP offers that - low taxes, tough immigration controls, accountable politicians and representing local constituents. Give me the chance to prove myself, Vote for John Tennant.
